Tata Motors has launched the all-new 2021 Tata Safari in India at a starting price of INR 14.69 Lakh (ex-showroom). The all-new Safari will be available in nine variants, starting from XE and going up to the XZA+.In addition, the company has also announced a new Adventure Persona trim at INR 20.20 lakh (ex-showroom) for manual and INR 21.45 lakh (ex-showroom) for the automatic version in an exclusive new blue colour called Tropical Mist.
The 2021 Tata Safari is the third-gen model for the Safari nameplate and it is based on the company's Land-Rover derived Omega architecture which also underpins the Tata Harrier or H5. Tata says this platform will allow for further driver enhancements including all-wheel drive and possibilities of electrification in the future.
The new Tata Safari will get the same 170hp, 2.0-litre Kryotec turbo-diesel engine from the Harrier (H5), as well as its six-speed manual and six-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options. The 2021 Tata Safari will be 80mm taller and 63mm longer than the Harrier (H5) to accommodate the extra row of seats. It will also get a revised rear end, a stepped roof, and an upright tailgate. The interior of the Safari has an Oyster White interior theme, paired with an Ash Wood dashboard. It will come in two seating configurations - a 6-seater with captain seats and a 7-seater with bench seats.
The exclusive ‘Adventure’ persona trim will come with R18 black tinted charcoal grey machined alloys and an all piano black finish in its grille, roof rails inserts, outer door handles along with a Safari mascot placement on the bonnet. On the interiors, it gets signature earthy brown interiors, dark chrome interior accents on air vents, knob, switches, inner door handle and instrument cluster along with a piano black interior pack on steering wheel, grab handles, floor console frame and IP mid pad finisher.
Speaking on the launch of the new Safari, Mr. Guenter Butschek, MD and CEO, Tata Motors said, “The Safari as our new flagship is connecting the aspirations of the discerning and evolved SUV customers. It tops the ‘New Forever’ range of cars and SUVs launched in 2020 and marks another milestone in Tata Motors’ strategic transformation. Its exceptional build quality and premium finish, power and performance augment the brand’s iconic legacy and amplify the key traits of the ‘New Forever’ range – safety, style, drivability and best-in-class features. We will make the Safari rule the Indian roads once again.”Mr. Shailesh Chandra, President – Passenger Vehicles Business Unit, Tata Motors, said,“Safari had introduced India to the SUV lifestyle and in its contemporary avatar, the new Safari is in-sync with the multifaceted lifestyles of today’s SUV customer.
